Racoon
All our raccoons are nature rescues. They were found orphaned in nature and were taken care of by the Bioparc animal service, where most of them were bottle-fed. They have therefore developed a special relationship with animal caretakers.
Orphan animals
Spring is a time when many species give birth, including red foxes, raccoons, striped skunks, white-tailed deer and moose. It is therefore a period when we can meet an orphan in nature. But you should know that the majority are not really orphans. It is important to leave young animals where they are and not to touch them. If they are observed for several days alone, contact the wildlife protection officers, who will intervene if necessary. Although we are full of good intentions, the best thing to do is often to let nature follow its course.
The following video is only avalaible in French. It gives informations about the biology of the racoon.
