"Paysage hivernal au bord du canal" by Réal Ménard

In this capsule, Réal Ménard shares an audio recording captured by Réal Ménard on a particularly windy and cold afternoon.

Réal Ménard:

My name is Réal, we’re currently near the Soulanges Canal, and we’re recording ambient sounds from the area around the canal.

(sound of waves and wind)

It’s March 23rd, 2019. Unfortunately, it’s very windy today. But we’re still doing our best to capture a variety of sound samples.

(sound of a flag flapping in the wind, and boat mooring noises)

At this time of year in March, the canal is mostly frozen. In some spots, the ice has started to break up.

There’s still some vehicle traffic along the canal, which makes it harder to get clean sound recordings.
