Place Manson

Place Manson is the park that allows us to eat or rest. It has belonged to the Municipality since 1840 and has always been intended to be a social and green space for citizens. Place Manson also represents Potton's community and festive spirit. A bandstand was erected here over 100 years ago. It has since been replaced, but it has always had the function of animating Place Manson. In the summer, the Municipality installs a public piano. La Chouette choir presents pieces here during the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The bandstand also plays host to artists taking part in the free concert series Sundays in the Park, which has been bringing the village to life for several years now.

Historic establishments surround Place Manson, including the Giroux & Giroux hardware store. Built in 1824, the building was once a hotel and general store. A breath of fresh air has been blowing through Mansonville in recent years, with well-established businesses such as Euro-Delli and Owl's Bread rubbing shoulders with the new faces of Appalaches Roaster and Campobasso Delicatessen.

At the end of 2023, Potton's Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee unveiled its street banner project. When Potton residents and visitors enter the village of Mansonville, they can now admire some twenty works by local artists displayed on banners installed on lampposts and utility poles. The Municipality of the Township of Potton proudly showcases its artists by unveiling its street banners project, which aims to promote local art on its territory.

In addition, two banners were created in collaboration with the Potton Heritage Association to represent facets of life in Potton Township throughout history: navigation on Lake Memphremagog and old mill production, for example.
