Miniature canoes are an important part of our collections at the Huron-Wendat Museum. Adored by children, they were used not only for decorative purposes but also as models for making or selling canoes (like the object shown here: template, moulds, and miniature canoe 1977.152).

Miniature canoes come in various shapes and sizes. Note the details, colours, textures and figures, as well as the differences between them.

Here is an example of a beautifully carved and varnished miniature wooden canoe. Note the delicately shaped details: you can see the paddles, thwarts and yoke, as well as a pair of snowshoes.
