Impressive pistons
The top of the engine
The ERNEST LAPOINTE has two engines, one on each side.
Huge pistons in chambers are located in the round red casings that you see in front of you.
S.S. JOHN W. BROWN idle engine
Cowl ventilator
The pipe at the centre of the room is the lower part of this cowl ventilator.
The valves
The series of valves at the back of the room control the input of steam from the engine room.
Mid-level
On this level are the two electric generators and the main power panel of the ERNEST LAPOINTE.
Naturally, this panel no longer powers the ship!
How to climb down a ladder
First free your hands of any objects, then turn your head to face the ladder and grasp the handrails to go down. Watch your head!
This is the safest way to climb down a ladder on a ship.
