The Leave No Trace Principles

Leave No Trace Canada is a non-profit organization that promotes the responsible use of natural areas through education, research, and partnerships. NANA has been a partner of Sans Traces Canada since June 2019! Here is a summary of the 7 principles to observe when you go out in kind.
1-Prepare and plan Know the regulations and the particularities of the place visited. Prepare for bad weather, emergencies, etc. 2-Use durable surfaces Look for existing trails, rock slabs, gravel, dry grass and snow. 3- Properly manage the waste Win what you bring. Do not leave any garbage, food or rubbish in the forest 4- Leave intact what we find Leave stones, plants and any natural object as found. Avoid picking and transporting plants. 5- Minimize the impact of fires Where fires are permitted, use locations that have previously been used, fireplaces or earthfill. 6-Respect the wild life Watch the wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach wild animals. Never give food to wild animals. This can affect their health, alter their behavior, expose them to predators and other dangers. Protect wildlife and your food by putting rations and garbage in a safe place. 7- Respect other users Avoid talking loudly and making noise; be attentive to the sounds of nature. Be respectful of other visitors and concerned about the quality of their experience.
