Dominated during testing...

Audi returns with the new R15+ TDI to snatch victory away from Peugeot.

The domination of the French model cars however continued during practice, and the four Peugeots who entered started the 24 Hours ahead of the three Audis.

But, the race became a farce. The Peugeot 908s gave up one by one and became victims of a defective chassis and three engine failures.

But they were victorious on arrival!

The Germans had three Audis at the start and three at the finish. They gave the model its 4th hat-trick.

With more than 5,410 kilometres recorded on the odometer, the lead car broke the overall record for the distance travelled which had stood since the 1971 event.

On board, Romain Dumas was the first French driver to win at Le Mans since Yannick Dalmas in 1999.

A question for a super champion

It was the skier Jean-Claude Killy who got the 2010 event under way. Was this Audi hat-trick a tribute to the Frenchman's three gold medals at the 1968 Olympics?

A BMW Art Car returned to Le Mans in 2010 for the first time since 1999. This time, the German model called on the very famous American artist Jeff Koons.

It had an explosive result:
