John McLoughlin was born in Rivière-du-Loup in 1784. His father John McLoughlin is of Irish origin and his mother Angélique Fraser is of Scottish origin by her father Malcolm Fraser of Mont-Murray and French Canadian by her mother Marie Allaire.
