A flagship event of Montreal’s fall cultural calendar, the World Press Photo Montreal Exhibition is presented annually at Bonsecours Market. Over 65,000 people attend this large-scale international exhibition, which has been organized since 1955 by the World Press Photo Foundation, based in the Netherlands.

That annual fun of Jackalope takes over Jacques Cartier Pier this year from September 11 to 13, uniting the excitement of skateboarding, bouldering, BASE jumping and breakdancing.

Montrealers are legendarily passionate fans of elite competition, and Montréal ranks among the world’s top cities for high-level athletics, holding approximately 60 major competitive events in an average year. It’s only fitting then that Montréal is set to become the epicentre of world cycling, hosting the prestigious 2026 UCI Road World Championships from September 20 to 27, the most significant sports event in the city since the 1976 Summer Olympic Games.

The Festival Quartiers Danses (FQD) takes as its mission to democratize contemporary dance and bring it to spaces in which it is not normally found: streets, parks, public markets, museums, daycares, and community organizations. It is the annual rendezvous for contemporary dance both on stage and in an urban context. Its programming includes performances at the Place des Arts, outdoor performances throughout Montréal neighbourhoods, and screenings of short films on dance.

Montreal's international projection mapping festival (MAPP_MTL) returns with a festive program of projection mapping and electronic music performances in a neighborhood party atmosphere. Montrealers can also visit a commercial space featuring local businesses and two food kiosks. This edition offers festival-goers an indoor and outdoor journey that serves as an open laboratory for the future of projection mapping. The spectator takes part in it and becomes the actor! Transforming public spaces into a field of creative expression through projection mapping, this organization promotes the development of this art form while providing a showcase for local and international talent.
