GOURMET WALK ON MONT-ROYAL AVENUE, BY ALICE, CULTURE & TALENT COORDINATOR

I've been living in the Plateau-Mont-Royal for two years now with my dog. I am originally from Charlevoix, a beautiful country a few hours from Montreal. I must admit that local products are part of my daily life and I am always looking for MY local products, even in the big city of Montreal. I am lucky enough to live in a neighborhood that allows me to continue to taste the multitude local products. Here are my must-see places for a trip in the quest for local products.

La Maison des Bières on Lanaudière street

This wonderful store offers a huge choice of beer from the 4 corners of Quebec. Obviously, my choice stops on beers of a micro-brewery coming from Charlevoix, more specifically the city of Clermont: Menaud. I choose a beer with camerise, a small red fruit that gives a sour taste to the beer and a beer with parsley.

Store Bleu & Persillé

Second stop : I can't walk on Mont-Royal street without stopping at the Bleu & Persillé store, a gourmet cheese and charcuterie counter that takes a very friendly approach, as if you were coming home. You can taste the cheeses and charcuterie before picking what you like. My favorites are the Bleu Élizabeth cheese, the Louis d'Or 3 year old cheese and the Espelette duck breast.

La boutique Le Boucanier

A few steps away, I reach the boutique Le Boucanier. As soon as you enter, a smell of smoking invades you. It is incredible! In a display, you can choose between fish, seafood or smoked tofu. I always take the same thing: Maple smoked salmon candies and smoked trout rillette.

Ô Petit Paris backery

Of course, you need a good baguette to go with all these delicious things. So I stop at the Ô Petit Paris bakery to ask for a baguette that is not overcooked (you can make a special request). For the walk back, I enjoyed a goat cheese, tomato and lemon ficelle.

This trip is great at any time of the year. In the middle of summer, you could go enjoy this snack in a park. My favorite time of the year to enjoy this is in fall. I make a sampler tray with the finds, put on my sweater and snack while listening to my favorite show.
