Formula 1 Grand Prix du Canada

For three glorious days, Montréal welcomes F1 motor racing fans from around the world to cheer on the best drivers on the planet. The Grand Prix du Canada, the Canadian segment of the Formula 1 World Championship, never fails to provide an exhilarating weekend of thrills, fun and excitement! As if the official race, F1 drivers' parade plus qualifying and open testing sessions weren’t enough, diehard racing fans can watch Ferrari, Porsche and Formula 1600 Challenges, tour the support paddocks, and enjoy a number of thematic zones. Visit the official merchandise zone, enjoy the Beach Zone with games, a DJ and bar-terrasse, or even the Family Zone to keep young racing fans revved up and happy between the on-track activities.

Japan Week

Celebrate the richness of Japanese culture right here in Montréal with Japan Week. This special week-long series of festivities highlight the best Japanese restaurants and boutiques in the city while also featuring a variety of special activities that promote the vastness of Japanese influence in the city. Special attention is also paid to Shibas and Akitas, two highly popular breeds of dogs in Japan, with a gathering of over 250 dogs gathered together to the delight of all in attendance.

Unique in its kind, the Art Souterrain Festival transcends disciplines and takes place in the heart of Montréal’s underground network. Thus, the downtown corridors are transformed into spaces showcasing photography, video, artistic and sound installations by local and international artists brought together around a common theme. A variety of performances, events and mediation activities will also be offered.

Montreal Comic Arts Festival
15th edition

This event is the largest comic arts festival in Canada. On the last weekend of May, it welcomes comic creators, publishers and their audiences to celebrate comic arts from here and abroad. Bilingual and free, the outdoor event is designed to be accessible and inclusive in order to democratize comics. It features panels and conversations about comic arts, live drawing animations, drawing and reading workshops, exhibitions, hundreds of hours of book signings and more! Last year, the MCAF welcomed over 95,000 visitors, hosted 170 exhibitors, and showcased 320 comic artists.

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the St-Ambroise Montréal Fringe Festival is set to surprise you with new theatre, dance and comedy shows —plus a free outdoor stage in the Plateau-Mont-Royal neighbourhood — all starting on May 26. 

Château Ramezay

Built in 1705 at the request of Claude de Ramezay, who was then the governor of Montreal and intended it as his residence, the Château Ramezay is the oldest private historical museum in Quebec. It features both permanent and temporary exhibitions dedicated to Montreal's past. Located in Old Montreal, this heritage building is itself a historic site of interest: the American Revolutionary Army established its Canadian headquarters there from 1775 to 1776, and Benjamin Franklin stayed there when he visited Montreal to persuade the city to join his cause.
