SOLAR SUNDAIL

Cadran solaire

Situated along the boardwalk, the solar sundial is a model where two equatorial faces are graduated. To represent "sense of place", the dial is made of aluminum, stainless steel and bronze. The materials represent the industrial port use of the place. Roman numerals and the pieces were cut by a fine jet of water at very high pressure, which gives a clean cut and flawless. The propeller is decorative and was recovered from an abandoned, courtesy of the Port of Sept-Îles ship. The finished aluminum was over sandblasted to give it a frosted appearance while the dial is coated with a clear protective layer.

The dial gives the standard time and daylight saving time. The correction was made ??in longitude when plotting hour bands. A mechanism actuated by the observers can make correction of the equation of time.
