Congrats on collecting our wonderful Buena Mulata Peppers seeds. Just like most cayenne types, is a pretty spicy pepper variety. It isn’t among the hottest in the world, but it does pack a good punch of heat.

Instructions

Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost and transplant into garden after the danger of frost has passed.


Keep seedlings moist but do not overwater.


Transplants should be initially watered in well, and plants will be most productive with regular irrigation and full sun.

Chicken with Buena Mulata Peppers

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken fillets
  • 2 Buena Mulata peppers, seeded and finely chopped (adjust according to your spice tolerance)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (400g)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh coriander, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preparing the Buena Mulata Peppers:
  • Wash the peppers and remove the seeds. Finely chop them. Wear gloves if sensitive to heat.
  1. Cooking the Chicken:
  • In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat. Season the chicken fillets with salt and black pepper.
  • Brown the chicken fillets on both sides until cooked through. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  1. Making the Sauce:
  • In the same skillet, add more olive oil if needed. Sauté the onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.
  • Add the sliced bell pepper and chopped Buena Mulata peppers. Sauté for a few minutes until the peppers start to soften.
  1. Finishing the Dish:
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes into the skillet. Season with ground cumin, sweet paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  • Return the chicken fillets to the skillet and simmer over low heat for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the sauce slightly thickens and the chicken is well infused with flavors.
  1. Serving:
  • Garnish with chopped fresh coriander if desired. Serve hot, accompanied by cooked white rice or quinoa for a complete and flavorful meal.
