The Richelieu Hotel, located at the corner of Principale Street and 'rue du Quai', faced the public wharf. Between 1906 and 1908, Mr Joseph A. Renaud ran the business, and the establishment was very popular among both maritime travelers and the many stagecoach drivers passing through the village.

These horse-drawn vehicles, driven by postilions, were originally a public transportation service used for mail delivery. Over the years, stagecoaches began carrying passengers, especially during the winter months when maritime transport was unavailable.
