Émilia Lalonde, Sister of Chief Electrician Damien Lalonde, in the Soulanges Canal Hydroelectric Plant
1903

The biggest innovation of the canal was its electrification. It was powered by the hydroelectric plant built in 1899 in Les Cèdres, at the junction of the canal and the Rivière à la Graisse.
Nicknamed the 'Petit pouvoir des Cèdres' (Little Power of Les Cèdres), it is the only hydroelectric plant in North America built in a château-style architecture. Classified as a historic site in 1984, it stands as a testament to both history and architecture.
