Domaine Maizerets: a green oasis

Nestled in the heart of the Limoilou neighbourhood, Domaine Maizerets is a 27-hectare wooded park that’s ideal for relaxing and exploring.

Once owned by a religious community, the estate was sold to the Ville de Québec in 1979. Several buildings on the site, including the Maison Maizerets, reflect its historic past.

The 300-year-old Maison Maizerets has for years been called “Château Ango-des-Maizerets” in honour of Louis Ango de Maizerets (1636–1721), second superior of the Séminaire de Québec. The estate and the neighbourhood where it is located are also named after him.

The fully accessible trails wind through several natural habitats including majestic centuries-old trees. It’s an outstanding site for birding. The singing birds and the murmuring leaves create a peaceful atmosphere far from the noise of the city.

Featuring a magnificent arboretum, a cedar maze, a panoramic lookout, an observation tower and a peaceful water garden, the Domaine Maizerets also has playgrounds and picnic areas.

The Domaine Maizerets cedar maze gives visitors a challenge.

It’s also an ideal place for exploring and learning. Two interpretive trails invite you to discover the flora and fauna of the estate and learn about its history.
