The officers’ mess

Careful! Lift your leg to enter!

Do you know why the threshold of the door is so high?
It is to prevent water from entering the room!

The officers’ mess

This is where the captain and his officers had their meals. Each had their own seat and ate at set times: 7:30 a.m., noon and 5 p.m.

The captain is seated at the starboard end of the table and the deck officers are seated on either side of him. Seated at the other end of the table, the chief engineer faces the captain in the company of his engineer officers.

The pantry

In this space between the mess and the galley, a steward prepared service, just like in a restaurant. This room was also used to store dishes and food for officers who might get hungry when the galley was closed between mealtimes.
