The Grand Tronc Train Station in Coteau-Station (Les Coteaux)
1912

While Coteau-Landing was a hub for maritime transport with its large wharf, Coteau-Station was at the heart of the railway exchanges at the time. Since 1994, the municipality of Les Coteaux has been the result of the merger of these two municipalities.
In 1854, the construction of the first Grand Trunk Railway line to cross the Ottawa River, along with the Taschereau and Galipeault railway bridges, marked the beginning of a new era for Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The goal was to create the shortest route between Montreal and Toronto.
Built in 1855, the Coteau-Station train station became a key hub in the railway development of the time. In addition to major repair and refueling workshops, it featured a turntable that allowed locomotives to rotate on the tracks and change direction. Located at 50 Daoust Street in Les Coteaux, the station is still in operation today but functions as an unstaffed marker post.
