Horse Teams and Handcars

In order to be able to repair the track sleepers, the workers travelled in hand-pumped railcars, until the day a motor was installed. Although this made it easier to move around, the engine had to be removed at the end of each day and stored in a shed, safe from theft.

In 1944, following major flooding, all railway activities ceased.
